Inspire – my favourite word. That and, of course, all the variations and standard affixes that go with it. For what would life be without inspiration?

It is said that necessity is the mother of invention. However, as much as I have no desire to challenge any adage that has stood the test of time (for I would quite rightly lose), I tend to beleive that it is not necessity, but inspiration that is the mother of invention. For there would never be any new inventions if people were not first inspired to invent them. It does not take a rocket scientist to know that something that is desperately needed will go on being needed until somebody encounters inspiration and gets about inventing it. (Although in saying that I’m sure a rocket scientist could get the hang of it if they really tried!)

Inspiration. Without it we would have no cities, no laws, no structure, no happiness. For who is happy, unless something inspires them to act. Without inspiration, we would all be sitting on our couch, doing nothing. Perhaps not even eating…because you do, after all, need to be inspired to even eat. I wonder what would happen then.

Yes, I think inspire is a very important word. Let’s all be inspired by that!
